- What are Web Design Awards categories?
- Categories group award nominations by the kind of website being judged — agency portfolios, e-commerce stores, SaaS products, editorial publications, and more. Every nominee belongs to one or more categories, and each category has its own archive page with active nominees, recognized winners, and Site of the Month picks.
- How are winners selected within a category?
- Each nominee is evaluated against the same editorial rubric: visual design, user experience, performance, accessibility, and innovation. Within a category, the highest-scoring sites earn formal recognition (Award Winner or Site of the Month). Scores and judging notes are visible on every nominee page.
- Can a website appear in more than one category?
- Yes. A nominee can be tagged with multiple categories when its work spans disciplines — for example, an e-commerce site with editorial storytelling, or a SaaS product with a marketing page strong enough to stand on its own. The nomination flow lets you select every category that fits.
- How do I nominate a site to a specific category?
- Open the category page you want to nominate to, click Nominate a site, and pick that category in the form. You can also start from the global nomination flow and add categories there — submissions are reviewed by the editorial team before the nominee goes live.
- Are new categories added over time?
- Yes. The editorial team adds categories when a meaningful new discipline emerges in the nomination pool — for example, AI-native interfaces or immersive 3D experiences. Existing categories are preserved so historical winners stay discoverable.
