    Web Designer

    • Design
    • Remote
    • Full-time
    View role & apply

You design the pages that a site about design gets judged on. Wireframes through high-fidelity mockups, the layout and type systems underneath, and work that holds up to close scrutiny - because here, it will get some.

    What you'd do

    • Design responsive pages end to end - wireframe, high-fidelity mockup, prototype, handoff spec.
    • Own the layout, typography and UI component systems the rest of the site is built from.
    • Hold the work to WCAG and to real device performance, not just to the Figma frame.
    • Take the feedback and the usability findings, and rework it until it is right.

    What we're after

    • A portfolio of live web projects with visible visual rigour.
    • Fluent in Figma and in modern responsive layout technique.
    • Accessibility is part of how you design, not a pass at the end.
    • Runs several projects at once without being managed through them.

    • Design end-to-end flows for submitters and for the hiring teams browsing the index.
    • Take product requirements through wireframes and prototypes to high-fidelity UI.

    • Run or synthesise the research and usability testing behind the decisions.

The award, and the archive behind it

Every judged winner gets a permanent page, a published score and an embeddable badge. The archive is the reason anyone trusts the rest of it.

Judging tools, and a rubric in public

- 03 / How it works here

Small team, real ownership.

Worth knowing before you spend an evening on the application.

Where
Remote

Every open role is remote. The platform has been international since 2014 and the team works distributed - which is why written clarity is weighted so heavily in every listing.

Team size
Small

Small and fast-moving. There is no layer between you and the decision, and no queue of people to route a question through.

Scope
End to end

Roles here are owned, not staffed. You take a thing from the first sketch or the first schema through to the version people actually use.

The bar
Published

We run an awards platform against a public rubric. It would be a strange place to ship work that would not survive its own judging.

- 04 / Questions

Before you apply.

Are these roles remote?

Yes. Every currently open role is remote. Web Design Awards has been an international platform since 2014 and the team works distributed, which is why clear written communication is called out in every one of the listings.

How do I apply?

Each role on this page links straight to its full description and application form on Land Early, where we run our hiring. There is no separate form to fill in here first.

Is this the same thing as your jobs board?

No. The jobs board carries roles posted by agencies, studios and product teams across the industry, indexed by category, city and remote. This page lists only the roles open at Web Design Awards itself.

Do I need a portfolio?

For the design and motion roles, yes - those listings ask for a portfolio of live work, so bring one. For the writing and editorial roles, bring samples that show range. For everything else, work you can talk through in detail matters more than the length of the CV.

Nothing here fits what I do.

Then do not force it into one of these. Get in touch and tell us what you would actually be doing - or, if you build sites, submit one for judging. A site that goes through the rubric says more than a cover letter does.

If one of these is obviously you.
