About this design role.

The public surface of a site about design, which is a harder brief than it sounds. Fast, accessible, indexable - and good enough to survive its own rubric.

What you'd do

• Build and maintain the responsive interfaces across the index, award pages and directory.

• Turn design and product requirements into clean, maintainable frontend code.

• Optimise for speed, Core Web Vitals and the indexing that award pages depend on.

• Write tests, review code, and improve the frontend tooling and standards.

What we're after

• Production frontend experience in modern JavaScript or TypeScript.

• Strong HTML, CSS and a component framework - React, Vue or similar.

• Performance, responsiveness and accessibility are part of how you build.

• Comfortable going straight from a designer's file to a polished interface.

Nice to have: SSR & SEO-conscious frontend, Directory & listings interfaces, Design systems.

Web Design Awards has been judging the web's best work since 2014 — the curated index, the judging tools, the hiring board and the agency marketplace behind it. This role is remote, on a small distributed team.
